Free renovation material calculator & shopping list

Calculate paint, flooring and drywall quantities, compare costs using your prices, and create a clear shopping list before you visit the store.

Pick a calculator, or plan the whole room

Measure once. Every material follows.

Most calculators make you type the same room three times — once for drywall, once for paint, once for flooring — and then leave you to add it all up. Renovation Buy List keeps one room model. Enter length, width and wall height; choose which of the four walls, the ceiling and the floor are actually in scope; add doors and windows to the wall they sit on. Drywall sheets, primer, paint and flooring boxes are all calculated from that same geometry, and you get one shopping list you can price, print or export.

Change a wall height or add a window and every dependent quantity updates. Each line on the list can be traced back to the room, the surface and the assumption that produced it, and every allowance is visible and editable — a 10% cutting allowance is a planning assumption you can review, not a number hidden in the formula.

What you get

What it is not

A planning tool, not a takeoff service. It does not produce a cutting layout, specify insulation, size electrical circuits or check structural spans, and it does not certify that a sheet size will fit through your hallway. Read the methodology for every formula and limit, and verify quantities with your supplier before a big purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Is Renovation Buy List free?

Yes. Every calculator and the room planner are free, with no account. Projects are saved in your own browser.

How accurate are the quantities?

They are planning quantities calculated from your measurements with the formulas on the methodology page. Allowances are shown and editable, never hidden. They are not an exact cut list, a structural design or code approval — confirm sizes and layouts with your supplier or installer.

Do I need to enter my room twice for paint and drywall?

No. That is the point. Measure a room once in the planner, tick which walls, ceiling and floor are in scope for each material, and every estimate updates from the same geometry when you change a dimension or add a door.

Where do prices come from?

From you. Enter the price you were quoted or saw on the shelf, and the list shows a priced subtotal, tax at the rate you enter, delivery and fees. The planner never invents a live price.

Does it work in metric?

Yes. Switch between feet-and-inches (including fractions like 6 1/2") and metres at any time. The switch changes the display only; measurements are stored exactly so nothing drifts.
